Job Summary
Vice President of Legal at Skillz responsible for protecting and enabling the business across corporate governance, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, IP, employment, and litigation. Lead executive-level legal guidance to the CEO and Board; oversee SEC reporting, governance processes, and enterprise risk. Drive scalable contracting, data-sharing, and strategic partnerships; manage mergers & acquisitions workstreams; ensure regulatory, privacy (CCPA/GDPR), and gaming compliance; lead IP strategy and outside counsel relationships. Must demonstrate executive presence, strategic commercial instinct, and multi-jurisdictional compliance experience with a hands-on leadership approach to scale a legal function from a department of 1 toward the future state. Location-based onsite roles in Las Vegas, NV or New York, NY with travel less than 25%.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 10+ years of in-house legal experience
- publicly-traded company experience with SEC reporting, board governance, and executive-level legal advisory
- M&A transaction experience with end-to-end involvement
- industry experience in gaming, advertising technology, or consumer technology
