Job Summary

Lead the Engineering Organization by establishing priorities, developing the team, and creating accountability to build a clear engineering mission. Drive R&D and product development by moving projects from concept through design, testing, and production while improving timelines and execution. Improve engineering processes to bring organization, structure, and discipline to the department, and develop better products that deliver quality, reliability, and competitive cost. Provide technical leadership across mechanical engineering, product design, robotics, automation, and manufacturing, leveraging expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC integration. Optimize manufacturing by evaluating internal processes and determining when outside resources offer superior quality, cost, and scalability. Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Sales, and senior leadership to solve problems and execute growth initiatives. Establish a culture where people take ownership and projects get completed.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Strong mechanical/manufacturing engineering foundation
  • Demonstrated success leading product development or R&D initiatives from concept through completion
  • Experience working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations
  • Ability to evaluate manufacturing capabilities and make intelligent internal-versus-external sourcing decisions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate people and gain their respect
  • A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Professional presence and confidence working with customers and senior leadership
  • Stable career history with progressive leadership responsibility

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering strongly preferred
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC integration
  • Railroad or other highly specialized industry experience
