Job Summary
Lead the Engineering Organization by establishing priorities, developing the team, and building a clear mission to drive accountability. Drive R&D and product development from concept through design, testing, and production while improving timelines and execution. Improve engineering processes to create organization, structure, and efficiency. Develop better products that deliver quality, reliability, manufacturability, and competitive cost. Provide technical leadership across mechanical engineering, product design, robotics, automation, and manufacturing initiatives. Leverage automation and controls expertise, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC integration. Optimize manufacturing by evaluating internal processes and sourcing decisions. Lead cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Sales, and other departments to solve business problems. Build a culture of ownership and project completion. Support company growth by executing initiatives with senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Strong mechanical/manufacturing engineering foundation
- Demonstrated success leading product development or R&D initiatives from concept through completion
- Experience working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations
- Ability to evaluate manufacturing capabilities and make intelligent internal-versus-external sourcing decisions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate people and gain their respect
- A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Professional presence and confidence working with customers and senior leadership
- Stable career history with progressive leadership responsibility
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering strongly preferred
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC integration
- Railroad or other highly specialized industry experience
