Job Summary
Vice President of Development is a fully remote senior leadership role overseeing Seneca’s fundraising and philanthropic programs. Responsibilities include developing and implementing multi-year fundraising strategies, overseeing major gifts, foundations relations, planned giving, annual fund, corporate relations, and events; partnering with the CEO, Board, and community leadership to align fundraising priorities; managing a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects; building a high-performing development team; driving donor engagement and stewardship; translating programs and outcomes into compelling fundraising narratives; integrating CRM, analytics, and digital tools to support donor engagement; and managing the fundraising budget while ensuring ethical standards. The role requires residency in California and travel across California and Washington up to ~50% of the time. Qualifications include extensive fundraising experience (10+ years) with a track record in major gifts, senior leadership experience, a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), and strong collaboration with boards and executives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- ten or more years of progressive fundraising experience
- minimum of five years in a senior leadership role
- experience in major gift fundraising and campaign management
- experience leading development operations (major gifts, foundation relations, planned giving, annual fund, events)
- ability to travel ~50% across California and Washington
- excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- experience collaborating with boards and senior executives to advance philanthropy
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree or CFRE preferred
