Job Summary
Lead the global Medical Affairs function by establishing strategic direction, managing a dispersed Medical Science Liaison team, and cultivating relationships with key opinion leaders in oncology. Drive the development of clinical trial strategies, regulatory documentation, and medical marketing programs while interfacing with commercial teams, managed care, and management on reimbursement policies. Provide scientific input for new product development, present diagnostic offerings to stakeholders, and oversee departmental budgets and performance appraisals. Requires 10+ years in Medical Affairs with 5 years in leadership, including oncology and cancer genomics expertise. 50-70% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree minimum or higher
- A minimum of 5 years of experience leading and developing geographically dispersed, global Medical Affairs teams across multiple regions, cultures, and time zones
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry
- at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Experience in Oncology – Breast cancer and solid tumor
- Knowledge of and experience in Cancer Genomics and Genetics
- Experience in data analytics 5 years min
- Public speaking proficiency
- Global management experience
- Ability to travel with overnights and attendance at some weekend programs
- Ability to meet travel requirements of 50-70% by plane, train, car, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MSN, MPH, etc.)
- Experience in Oncology – Breast cancer and solid tumor preferred
- Successful track record with molecular diagnostics contracting and medical policy implementation preferred
- Strong understanding of coding and reimbursement for both commercial and government payers
- Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals
- Ability to translate key scientific information supporting product competitors science and marketplace to a broad range of Oncology customers
- Advanced knowledge of concepts and practices with the ability to use in diverse business situations
- Ability to complete and implement attainable business plans
- Strong understanding of commercial carrier plan designs state and federal government reimbursement and diagnostic payment channels
