Job Summary
Cogir Senior Living seeks a pragmatic, business-minded Vice President, Legal to support U.S. senior living operations, risk management strategy, and multi-state growth. Partner with executive leadership, operations, HR, risk management, finance, and outside counsel to provide timely legal guidance on resident-related matters, regulatory compliance, contracts, and disputes; manage outside counsel relationships and help develop scalable legal processes. This senior individual contributor role focuses on practical, actionable advice across licensing, regulatory matters, employment issues, and governance, with an emphasis on balancing legal risk with resident-care priorities. Based in Scottsdale, AZ, with occasional travel to communities or business locations.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree (JD)
- Active bar membership in Arizona, or eligible to practice in Arizona
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience (preferably with both law firm and in-house experience)
- Strong experience with operational legal support, commercial contracts, risk management, litigation oversight, claims management, and employment-related legal matters
- Experience advising multi-state organizations on legal, regulatory, operational, and compliance issues
- Experience partnering with senior leadership, operations, HR, risk management, finance, and outside counsel
- Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to executives and field operators
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive matters
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
