Job Summary
Vice President, Head of US Medical Immunology - responsible for developing and implementing Novartis’ Clinical Development & Medical Affairs strategy across the immunology franchise. Leads a high-caliber Clinical Development & Medical Affairs team, drives the regional growth agenda, aligns medical strategy with commercial objectives, partners with Global Development, and interacts with global franchise teams. The role emphasizes patient-centric approaches, cross-functional leadership, evidence-based medicine, medical advisory activities, investigator-initiated and customer-initiated research, publication planning, and lifecycle management. Travel to US and Europe is anticipated (approximately 30-40% annually, up to 40% seasonally). On-site location preferred in East Hanover, NJ with potential remote work considerations and no relocation or visa sponsorship provided. The position requires extensive leadership experience, deep immunology/respiratory insight, and strong understanding of regulatory and healthcare landscapes, along with ongoing collaboration across global and regional teams to shape strategy, resources, and talent development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or equivalent 4-year university degree OR Doctorate level degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD)
- Twelve or more years of progressively senior experience in clinical development or medical affairs in pharma/biotech/academic setting
- More than five years of people management and team leadership experience
- More than 3 years of experience in immunology/respiratory area in the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of US healthcare landscape, payor dynamics and access pathways
- Knowledge of good promotional practices (PhRMA, OIG, ABPI) and ACCME guidelines
- Demonstrated clinical research experience including protocol development and clinical trial operations
- Experience with health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence
- Ability to influence at enterprise level and collaborate with global/regional stakeholders
- Desirable: Medical Degree with Board Certification in a relevant specialty
- Desirable: Experience presenting at major international medical congresses
