Job Summary
Lead financial operations for The A’s as Vice President, Finance, overseeing GAAP-compliant monthly financial statements, budget vs. actual analysis, internal controls, and the annual audit process. Manage accounting, finance, and payroll staff; coordinate tax work papers and external advisors; lead budgeting/forecasting and special financial projects; review contracts for financial impact; and prepare MLB reports (e.g., FIQ, Revenue Sharing). Partner with executive leadership to drive data-driven decision-making and long-term financial sustainability while ensuring system alignment between IT and accounting. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA strongly preferred) and 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; strong GAAP expertise, regulatory compliance, and exceptional communication and leadership skills; proficiency with finance systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace; experience in professional sports or complex revenue environments preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience managing audits, tax processes, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage high-performing teams
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership
- Proficiency with finance and accounting systems with a focus on automation and workflow efficiency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or a similarly complex revenue environment preferred
