Job Summary
Develop financial models by applying knowledge of financial damages and lost profits to assist clients in insurance and litigation loss preparation. Synthesize and analyze large data sets across diverse industry sectors to create work product for financial investigations quantifying damages from catastrophic events, litigation, or disputes. Lead and project manage complex engagements, actively participating in client discussions to drive superior results while communicating complex analysis to attorneys and senior stakeholders. Develop deep industry expertise in sectors such as construction, mining, energy, and financial services, and help drive practice initiatives for technology adoption and operational efficiency. Manage client expectations and coordinate with internal stakeholders including brokers and analytics teams to fulfill deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Economics
- CPA, CBV, CFA, and/or CFE designation(s)
- 3 to 7 years familiarity with general accounting and finance terms and concepts, as well as with income statements, profit and loss statements, and other common financial documentation
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience in insurance claim quantification (specifically with Business Interruption Losses), litigation support, and/or forensic accounting services
- Exceptional project management skills – ability to manage client expectations, proactively identify / address roadblocks and interim milestones to fulfill deliverables, while coordinating with internal stakeholders such as brokers, account teams, and other teams within the Analytics and Consulting Practice
- Exceptional problem solving skills to address unique problems that may arise within the context of major and/or complex insurance claims
- Ability to communicate in both English and French
- Willingness to travel
- All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel (including VBA)
- Skills in SQL or other database experience
- Visualization/analytics applications
- Previous experience leading and resolving major and/or complex insurance claims, especially within the context of Business Interruption Losses
- Expertise in key industry sectors such Course of Construction, Mining, Energy, Financial Services, etc.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance programs – including mainstream property policies and ideally specialty insurance (examples include Cyber, Product Recall, Fidelity and Stock Throughput)
