Job Summary
Vice President, Database Engineering at Morgan Stanley in Alpharetta, GA (potential second listed location Edison, NJ) leads research, development, and implementation of standards for data storage, movement, and management across the enterprise. Responsibilities include delivering fraud operations data engineering and machine learning projects, architecting reusable frameworks for cloud deployments, prototyping new technologies, designing and building databases and ETL/MDM solutions, and promoting enterprise infrastructure, production support, analytics capabilities, and data modeling expertise. Candidate will function as the subject-matter expert for data management, data quality, and data interfaces, evaluating tools for databases, ETL, MDM, and analytics; requires strong experience with Oracle, SQL Server, IBM Infosphere DataStage, Snowflake, AWS Data Analytics, Parquet, CI/CD, and Cloudera, plus hands-on data architecture, performance tuning, and Windows/Linux environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as IT Operations Support Manager; Architect; Senior Data Engineer; Software Developer; or related occupation in the technology field
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and three (3) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience
- Three (3) years of experience with Oracle; Sybase SQL Server; IBM Infosphere DataStage; Data Architecture; Performance Tuning; Real-time transaction processing; Windows and Linux; PowerShell scripting; Bitbucket; Tableau; Apache Impala; Apache Hive
- Two (2) years of experience with Snowflake; AWS Data Analytics; Patching; Cloud technology including AWS EC2; Parquet; Continuous Integration tools; Cloudera
