Job Summary

Lead a team of data architects to define architectural direction for AI-ready platforms and establish governance frameworks across Research, Portfolio Management, and Trading functions. Set design patterns, best practices, and guardrails for enterprise-scale data platforms encompassing ETL/ELT pipelines, data access layers, and polyglot persistence strategies. Build and develop high-performing teams through hiring, onboarding, and succession planning, while conducting technical deep dives and design reviews to unblock initiatives and validate approaches. This role supports Fidelity's Asset Management Technology group, which manages $7 trillion in assets. The position requires a full-time onsite presence as Fidelity transitions to a hybrid model.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
5 years leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams
Experience building teams from the ground up or transforming underperforming teams into high-performing organizations
Proven ability to mentor and develop architects and senior engineers
Track record of growing individuals from mid-level to staff or principal levels
Executive-level communication skills
Expert-level proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and modern data programming languages, including Python, Scala, and Java
Deep experience with modern data engineering toolchains, including Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, and cloud-native services such as AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and Kinesis
Expertise in DataOps and continuous delivery practices for data platforms
Understanding of infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
Experience with automated testing strategies for data quality, schema validation, and lineage
Experience with observability instrumentation
Ability to review code, conduct technical interviews, and contribute to critical implementations when needed
Ability to maintain technical credibility through periodic hands-on work on complex problems
Understanding of operational characteristics, failure modes, and cost implications at enterprise scale
Experience establishing design patterns, best practices, and guardrails
Experience establishing reference architectures and accelerators
Experience ensuring consistency in security, observability, performance, and operational resilience
Experience leading technical deep dives and design reviews
Experience providing architecture expertise that unblocks teams
