Job Summary

Drive strategic market development in China's pharmaceutical, biotech, and technology sectors by identifying growth opportunities, executing market entry strategies, and building relationships with key industry stakeholders. Lead the business development team in China to grow Corporate revenue and P&L performance, aligning with global objectives while leveraging Informa's broader network for B2B synergies. Set clear goals, mentor team members, and fast-track conversations with decision-makers to unlock pipeline opportunities and optimize market penetration. Based in Shanghai with a right to work in China, this role requires fluency in Mandarin and English, with a three-day in-office schedule at Shui on Plaza and business travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record in business development and revenue generation, accountability for a high growth, multi million-pound revenue line
  • Deep knowledge of the Chinese marketplace, including cultural, economic, and regulatory nuances
  • Experience in leading high-performing teams and driving strategic initiatives in complex environments
  • Strong Leadership presence, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams while representing T&F at the highest levels in the market
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to open doors and establish trust with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on driving P&L performance and achieving revenue targets
  • Strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, develop actionable plans, and execute them effectively
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to fast-track conversations and influence decision-making
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and navigate challenges effectively
  • Cultural intelligence, with a deep understanding of Chinese business practices, customer behavior, and market dynamics
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work seamlessly across teams and organizations
  • Prior experience working in a global matrix organisation
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English
  • Right to work in China
  • Ability to live within a commutable distance to the Shanghai office (Shui on Plaza) to ensure attendance 3 days per week
  • Ability to utilise a balanced working model involving in-person work 3 days a week or more
