Job Summary
Senior in-house VP of Commercial Legal Affairs at Freshworks based in San Mateo, CA with hybrid in-office schedule Tue–Thu. Leads a global commercial legal team responsible for structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of SaaS/tech commercial agreements (MSAs, DPAs, vendor, professional services, distributor/reseller), partners with Sales, Deals Desk, Finance, Product, Security, and other functions, and drives contract management and playbooks to increase velocity while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. Requires JD, bar admission, 15+ years in-house tech legal experience, strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, and a track record of providing both tactical and strategic legal leadership to support a growing sales organization. Annual base salary range is $330,000–$405,000 with potential bonus/equity.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- Active state bar membership in good standing
- At least 15 years of relevant legal experience with an in-house position at technology companies directly supporting a sales organization
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, mentor and lead a team of legal professionals
- Experience providing tactical and strategic legal leadership in collaboration with business teams
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to make sound business decisions quickly under ambiguity
- Business acumen and ability to align legal strategy with business objectives
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for management and executives
- Ability to manage resources and handle escalations in a fast-paced environment
