Job Summary
Vice President of Claims Legal responsible for defining and executing the litigation strategy across Claims leadership, Staff Legal, Legal Practices, and Legal Operations. Leads a multi-functional organization delivering high-quality litigation outcomes, oversees external panel counsel and legal spend, and drives data-driven improvements using analytics and AI-enabled solutions. Responsibilities include setting litigation philosophy, monitoring performance across disposition, cycle times, and cost, and ensuring alignment between Claims Lines of Business and Staff Legal. Requires a JD with active bar membership (preferred) and 15+ years of progressive leadership in litigation, insurance claims, or staff counsel, along with strong collaboration across enterprise stakeholders to guide strategy, risk, and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership preferred; however, candidates with comparable legal leadership experience will also be considered.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in litigation, insurance claims or staff counsel organizations
- Deep expertise in litigation strategy, liability and coverage, and legal operations within an insurance environment
- Proven ability to influence senior business leaders and drive alignment on litigation strategy, risk and outcomes
