Job Summary
The VP/CFO leads financial strategy and stewardship for Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan, overseeing accounting, budgeting, forecasting, debt management, risk, regulatory compliance (GAAP for nonprofits), and reporting to the CEO, Board, and committees. Responsibilities include strategic financial leadership, financial modeling, corporate development support, internal controls, audit coordination, and performance analytics; directs finance team, partners with executive leadership on growth initiatives, and ensures donor-restricted funds compliance. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA, and 10–15 years of senior financial leadership experience (CFO-level preferred); nonprofit sector experience is highly desirable. Travel within the service region and a valid Michigan driver’s license are expected; relocation assistance is not provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA required
- MBA or other advanced professional certification preferred
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior executive or CFO-level role
- Proven experience leading finance functions in a mid-to-large, multi-site nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated experience presenting financial information to a Board of Directors and supporting audit and finance committees
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, internal controls, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with long-range financial planning, capital planning, and debt or credit facilities
- Experience with financial systems implementation or optimization (MS Dynamics GP or similar ERP)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI
- Strong analytical, modeling, and data visualization skills
- Understanding of SI&OP processes is preferred
