Job Summary

Provide oversight and strategic leadership to the organization's financial departments, including Accounting, Patient Financial Services, and Managed Care Contracting. Establish annual goals, develop financial policies, and oversee the development of operating and capital budgets. Monitor key financial indicators, manage cash flow, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Lead the financial planning process, conduct revenue cycle oversight, and provide accurate financial reporting to the Board of Directors. Maintain "Survey Ready" status and implement internal controls to prevent fraud. Participate in annual audits and continuous quality improvement activities. Work normal/scheduled hours including holidays, weekends, and on-call rotations. Requires a Master's degree, 10 years of healthcare finance leadership experience, and CPA or HFMA certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive healthcare finance leadership experience
  • At least five (5) years of executive level within a hospital or health system
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Substantial knowledge of Hospital operations
  • Familiarity with pertinent regulations
  • Familiarity with Medicare and Medi-Cal reimbursement mechanisms
  • Knowledge of cost reporting
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle management
  • Knowledge of capital financing
  • Knowledge of debt management
  • Knowledge of strategic financial planning
  • Knowledge of healthcare information system
  • Knowledge of labor productivity
  • Knowledge of budgeting procedures
  • Knowledge of physician practice financial operations
  • Ability to plan, direct and administer all functions of assigned areas
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of an entity-wide financial program
  • Ability to create, develop, and refine systems to meet the needs of a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to lead, motivate, guide, mediate, and strategically plan
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in healthcare financial systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electronic health record reporting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet modeling
  • Demonstrated proficiency in business intelligence tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • CPA, FHFMA, or HFMA Certification
  • Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call
  • Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours
  • Required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act
