Job Summary
Conduct individualized instruction, assessments, and accessibility support for students with visual impairments based on their unique educational needs. Adapt lessons into accessible formats including Braille and large print while incorporating assistive technology and tactile materials. Implement goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs and collaborate with classroom teachers, multidisciplinary teams, and families to promote student independence and self-advocacy. Maintain accurate service records and progress reports. This role offers flexible full-time or part-time school-based assignments across Texas, including San Antonio, for educators with Texas certification and specialized training in visual impairment instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Current and valid Texas teaching certification
- Texas certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments
- Knowledge of assessment methods used to evaluate visual functioning and educational access
- Familiarity with accessible instructional materials, Braille, and assistive technology
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide individualized support for students with a range of learning and behavioral needs
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with families and school-based teams
