Job Summary
Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures while preparing patients for surgery and providing attentive perioperative nursing care. Monitor anesthesia and patient recovery as directed, obtain complete patient histories, and maintain accurate medical records. Administer and dispense medications accurately, perform pharmacology calculations, and collect blood samples to place intravenous catheters. Support preventive care appointments, educate clients about vaccines and healthcare, assist with laboratory procedures, and keep the treatment area clean and organized. This full-time role includes a 3-4 shift week schedule with an evening shift and weekend rotation.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of small animal surgical experience
- Licensed Veterinary Technician credential preferred, but experienced veterinary technicians are encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of vaccines and preventive medicine
- Experience obtaining patient histories and maintaining medical records
- Confidence performing venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Experience administering and dispensing medications
- Knowledge of pharmacology calculations
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- A positive, dependable, and collaborative attitude
- A genuine passion for helping pets and the people who love them
- 3-4 shifts week, including an eve shift, 4th weekend rotation
