Job Summary
Licensed Veterinary Technician responsible for performing all functions of a veterinary technician (LVT) per Nevada law, including preoperative exams, anesthesia monitoring, coordinating surgical flow, administering controlled drugs under supervision, recording controlled substances, assisting veterinarians with emergencies, performing vaccines and microchips, radiology/records management in a high-volume shelter clinic, sterilization and aseptic techniques, postoperative care and patient discharge instructions, maintaining veterinary software (Chameleon), inventory and supplies, and contributing to clinic operations and public interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to a degree as a veterinary technician from a college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association or the appropriate agency in the state where the college is located.
- One (1) year of experience in a veterinary clinic, hospital or animal shelter.
- Valid Nevada Veterinary Technician (VT) license.
- May be required to obtain euthanasia technician credentials from the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, and the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy within one year of request at employer expense; with continued employment contingent upon having such credentials.
