Job Summary
Deliver nursing care to hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration, and ongoing patient monitoring. Prepare patients for surgical procedures, provide anesthesia monitoring and recovery care, and partner with veterinarians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries. Conduct laboratory diagnostics such as urinalysis, hematology, fecal testing, and cytology while accurately documenting and communicating results. Operate and maintain radiology and ultrasound equipment, and prepare and administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments in accordance with hospital requirements. Complete daily controlled drug logs, create and enter treatment plans into the medical record system, and maintain efficient hospital operations through accurate charge entry and chart auditing. Provide clients with education regarding preventative care, treatment plans, and nutritional recommendations. Keep treatment and surgical spaces clean, organized, and stocked while maintaining sterile conditions. Monitor inventory, rotate supplies, and assist with ordering medical supplies. Perform all duties in accordance with applicable state practice acts, legal requirements, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician
- Demonstrated proficiency in anesthesia monitoring
- Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture
- Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency in radiology
- Demonstrated proficiency in dentistry
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to navigate practice management software
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
