Job Summary
Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, and inpatient care alongside credentialed veterinary technicians in a real-time mentoring environment. Practice skills required by your school's proficiency checklist with guidance while engaging in patient triage, diagnostics, and inpatient care. Pair up with an emergency credentialed veterinary technician for on-the-floor learning and hands-on experience in emergency medicine. This program offers an immersive, fast-paced externship for currently enrolled AVMA-accredited students, providing exposure to the full scope of emergency veterinary care.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation
- Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
- Able to start the program within six months of application
- Current rabies vaccination or titer
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
- Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
