Job Summary
Veterinary Technician role supporting Veterinarian in Madison, WI, performing radiographs, blood and fecal sample collection, routine animal care and non-surgical procedures, QA and regulatory documentation, and training in euthanasia methods, anesthesia, and surgical prep; opportunities to learn/participate in ACUA and IACUC activities, with emphasis on compliance, study protocols, and process improvement; strong emphasis on animal welfare, regulatory adherence, and collaboration within veterinary staff and other teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Genetics, Environmental Biology, Animal Science, or related discipline) OR Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology, OR an equivalent combination of education and 6 months or more hands-on Life Sciences experience that provides the knowledge and skills required for the role.
- CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
- 6 months or more experience in an animal related field
- 6 months or more experience in a vivarium setting with familiarity in animal welfare standards (IACUC, AAALAC, or similar guidelines)
- Commitment to animal welfare, safety, and ethical care standards
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
