Job Summary
Sarasota Veterinary Center is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician with a minimum of 2 years experience to assist Veterinarians. Must have strong communication and technical skills, with a preference for candidates holding a Veterinary Technology certificate or Bachelor's degree.
Required Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of experience assisting Veterinarians with patient care
- Medication administration
- Vaccine administration
- Acquiring laboratory samples
- Processing in-house lab samples
- Anesthesia induction
- IV catheter placement
- Monitoring anesthesia for surgical procedures
- Surgical preparation
- Hospitalized patient care
- Wound care
- Emergency care
- Restraint techniques
- Laser therapy knowledge
- Familiarity with digital radiology
- Euthanasia protocols
- Communication skills with pet owners and medical staff
- Computer skills (Windows based, word processing, email)
- Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of Completion from an AVMA accredited school of Veterinary Technology
- Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology or relevant field
- 3-5 years experience working in the veterinary field
