Job Summary
Overnight Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician responsible for triage, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing management of emergency and critically ill patients. Works closely with ER clinicians, ICU teams, specialty services, assistants, and rotating doctors to ensure timely, efficient, and compassionate care. Communicates with clients during high-stress situations, mentors support staff, and coordinates patient flow between departments. Key duties include triage and stabilization of emergency patients, performing thorough assessments, implementing treatment plans with clinical judgment, CPR per RECOVER guidelines, placement and management of IV and arterial catheters and other advanced access devices, support for oxygen therapy and ventilation, administration of anesthesia and medications, comprehensive nursing care, phlebotomy and diagnostic sample processing, radiography, in-house diagnostics, and maintaining accurate medical records. Adheres to isolation, PPE, sterilization, and infection control protocols and contributes to overall departmental efficiency and aftercare. The role requires LVT/CVT/RVT credentials (preferred), several years of relevant experience, strong communication, and English proficiency, with opportunities for professional development and competitive compensation within a full-time night-shift schedule (Wednesday–Saturday, 8:00pm–6:00am or 5:00pm–6:00am; 3x13-hour and 4x10-hour schedules available). Required Qualifications
- LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred
- Three years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital
- Previous experience working in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, and data entry
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required
- RECOVER CPR certification a plus
- Experience managing critically ill and hospitalized patients preferred
