Veterinary Technician, Overnight Emergency & Critical Care

Job Summary

Restrain pets, administer medications, and assist with exams, procedures, and surgeries while monitoring anesthesia and providing supportive therapy. Perform lab procedures, collect samples, and operate radiography units and diagnostic software. Record patient histories, treatments, and procedures for invoicing, complete necessary paperwork, and maintain detailed progress notes. Clean and sterilize instruments, manage supplies, and report medical equipment issues. Work three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am at Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT)
  • Experienced Veterinary Technicians with at least 3 years of experience
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading)
  • Must be able to restrain pets
  • Must be able to prepare/administer medications
  • Must be able to assist in exams, procedures, and surgeries
  • Must be able to monitor anesthesia
  • Must be able to provide supportive therapy
  • Must be able to teach clients how to administer treatments
  • Must be able to prepare patients for discharge
  • Must be able to communicate status updates to the care team and clients
  • Must be able to record patient histories, treatments, and procedures accurately
  • Must be able to complete necessary paperwork
  • Must be able to maintain detailed progress notes
  • Must be able to schedule procedures
  • Must be able to relay accurate information to clients
  • Must be able to seek help when needed
  • Must be able to perform lab procedures
  • Must be able to collect/prep samples for analysis
  • Must be able to operate radiography units
  • Must be able to maintain radiography units
  • Must be able to operate diagnostic software
  • Must be able to maintain and report issues with medical equipment
  • Must be able to restock and manage supplies
  • Must be able to clean and sterilize instruments
  • Must be able to maintain hospital cleanliness
  • Must be able to assist with patient hygiene
  • Must be willing to go the extra mile to ensure the best patient and client experience
  • Must be available for 3x12 Hour Shifts: 6:00pm – 7:00am
  • Must be available for Overnight shifts
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work 24/7/365
