Job Summary
Conduct daily oncology patient care including acquiring histories, obtaining blood samples, and administering chemotherapy under direct supervision. Utilize Idexx in-house lab equipment for patient diagnostics, assist veterinarians with exams, and obtain radiographs. Perform flawless IV catheter placement, induce and monitor general anesthesia, and administer sedation for procedures. Assist with radiation therapy and provide client education while maintaining safety protocols around chemotherapeutics. Work a four-day week (Monday through Friday) with no weekends or overnights. Prioritize multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment while recognizing when to seek guidance on non-standard client cases.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience as a veterinary technician
- Fundamental knowledge of windows-based computer programs
- Ability to recognize and seek guidance in all client-related cases where protocol does not apply
- Ability to remain professional and inviting even under stressful and emotional situations
- Must be safety conscious
