Job Summary
Triage incoming ICU cases from multiple referral and specialty services while providing high-level nursing care to hospitalized specialty and critical care patients. Place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, and administer medications via SQ, IM, and IV routes to manage complex cases. Monitor anesthesia, assist with emergency and surgical procedures, and oversee advanced patient monitoring including ECGs and vital signs. Maintain accurate medical records, communicate patient updates with veterinarians and clients, and support hospital flow through patient handling and restraint. Work day shifts, swing shifts, or overnight shifts in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years veterinary experience with increasing responsibility
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
- Must be able to work independently and make sound clinical decisions under pressure
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient restraint
- Knowledge of fluid therapy, radiology safety, and basic emergency protocols
- Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
Desired Qualifications
- RVT/LVT/CVT preferred but not required
- Specialty, emergency, or inpatient ICU experience preferred but not required
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and critical patient care preferred
