Job Summary
Conduct large animal anesthesia, imaging, and surgical support including prep, positioning, monitoring, and recovery. Administer medications, perform intubation and catheterization, and maintain aseptic technique while recognizing abnormal vitals. Assist in diagnostic and research procedures, perform blood draws, and track controlled drug usage per DEA regulations. Manage animal colony care, capture, restraint, and environmental enrichment. Maintain inventory, follow sterilization protocols, and communicate with researchers. Participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- two years of occupational specific training from a college or university
- associate degree in biology or related field
- four years veterinary technical experience
- minimum of two years in a laboratory animal setting
- A bachelor's degree in a related field
- two years veterinary technical experience in the laboratory animal field
- Certification at the LAT level by AALAS
- five years veterinary technical experience
- Certification at the LATg level by AALAS
- four years veterinary technical experience
- Specialized veterinary technical experience
- A valid Georgia's divers license
- an insurable driving record
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Applicants with a valid driver's license and able to obtain Emory Safe Driving permissions
Desired Qualifications
- Certification at ALAT level preferred
