Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and provide client education. Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs during procedures, and administer medications, anesthesia, and vaccines at the veterinarian's discretion. Perform in-house laboratory testing, obtain blood and stool samples, and develop radiographs following safety protocols. Handle and restrain animals, clean exam and lab areas, restock supplies, and maintain medical equipment. Communicate with the practice team regarding patient plans and client concerns while demonstrating warmth and professionalism. Work weekends as required with a salary of $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work on weekends as required
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
Desired Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience preferred
