Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia

Job Summary

Conduct pre-procedure prep by verifying patients, equipment, medications, and procedure areas for planned and emergent cases. Administer general anesthesia and sedation using injectable, inhalant, and CRI methods while adjusting levels and responding to emergencies. Monitor patients during procedures and ensure safe recovery, maintaining detailed records of drug usage and patient responses. Collaborate with department teams to coordinate anesthesia protocols and communicate patient status. Perform routine maintenance on anesthesia equipment, calibrate machines and ventilators, and manage inventory of supplies and medications. Advocate for patient well-being by implementing pre-anesthetic assessment and post-anesthetic recovery protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of anesthetic monitoring in a veterinary setting
  • preference for a surgery or specialty/referral practice
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary anesthetic drugs and their effects
