Job Summary
Veterinary Technician at Altasciences Preclinical Sacramento responsible for nursing care and support of veterinarians and study directors, including medicines, surgery, and drug therapy; perform basic diagnostics, body weight and vital sign assessment, sample collection, medication administration (IM, SQ, topical, PO), handling of non-human primates within a home cage, anesthesia support and surgical preparation, routine cleaning and prep, dose calculations, inventory and ordering, data entry and QA of paperwork; requires BA/BS or LVT with 6-12 months of animal handling experience, ALAT certification pursuit, CA LVT license preferred; annual pay range $24.00-$32.00 per hour with comprehensive benefits and equal opportunity employment.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS or equivalent
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
- Completion of 2-year Veterinary Technician program preferred
- 6-12 months basic animal handling and/or basic medical/veterinary experience required
- CA State Veterinary Technician License (LVT) preferred
- Ability to calculate doses and perform basic math
- General reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Continual Good Laboratory Practice training and SOPs within department
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly
