Job Summary
Conduct animal restraint, triage incoming patients, collect and analyze lab samples, and perform diagnostic imaging. Manage nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, administer medications, and assist with surgical preparation and anesthetic management. Communicate treatment plans with clients and maintain medical records while ensuring safe, low-stress restraint techniques. Work evening shifts from 3 pm to 11 pm in a new urgent care clinic, handling exposures to animal waste and contagious diseases. The team offers comprehensive training, continuing education allowances, and tuition reimbursement for AVMA accredited programs.
Required Qualifications
- CVT highly preferred, but not required for this position
- 2+ years professional experience
- Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
- Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
- Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
- Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
- Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
- Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
- Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
Desired Qualifications
- Experienced veterinary technicians, 2+ years professional experience preferred but not required
