Job Summary
Triage patients, take vitals, and acquire patient histories from clients. Perform critical care nursing duties including phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and administering IM, IV, and SQ injections. Assist with diagnostic procedures, monitor anesthesia and fluid therapy, and operate the IDEXX blood machine. Process specimens in the in-house laboratory and submit samples to outside facilities. Calculate medication dosages, discuss treatment plans and payment options with clients, and enter service charges into the computer database. Maintain accurate patient records and provide educational materials regarding patient instructions. This role requires an Associate's degree in veterinary technology and two years of experience. Applicants must be proficient in computer skills, possess excellent communication abilities, and demonstrate strong affinity for animals. The position is full-time in a dynamic environment where the team player must remain undeterred by scratches or bites from patients.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an accredited school
- 2+ years of work experience as a veterinary technician
- Proficient in computer skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong affinity for animals
- Outstanding people skills
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
- Undeterred by being scratched and bitten by patients
