Job Summary
Participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff. Discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian to verify exam findings before proceeding as part of a collaborative team. This externship provides hands-on patient care in a general practice setting specializing in soft tissue surgery and dentistry, offering diverse clinical experience for AVMA-accredited students in their 3rd or 4th year. Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
- Must be a 3rd or 4th year veterinary medical student
- Must be on official externship blocks for school credit
