Job Summary
Participate actively in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and skilled support staff. Discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian to confirm exam findings and verify your plans before moving forward as part of the team. Gain hands-on experience in ultrasound, endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and wellness care for dogs and cats while contributing to comprehensive client and patient care. This externship integrates you into the Smithson Valley team, offering mentorship and diverse clinical settings across the hospital's full-service capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
- Must be in their clinical years
- Must be on official externship blocks for school credit
