Job Summary
Conduct hands-on patient care in general practice, emergency, and specialty settings including surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments. Participate in case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and exam findings verification with supervising veterinarians to confirm clinical plans. Engage in ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and wellness/preventative care services for dogs and cats while receiving mentorship from experienced staff. This externship is designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools to apply classroom knowledge in Louisville, Kentucky, with opportunities to support local animal shelters and gain diverse experience across the clinic's full-service general practice.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
- 3rd or 4th year veterinary medical students
