Job Summary
Participate actively in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff. Discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian to verify exam findings before proceeding. This clinical externship is designed for 3rd or 4th year veterinary students at AVMA-accredited schools, offering hands-on patient care in general practice, emergency, and specialty settings across our network of over 100 locations. St. Matthews Animal Clinic provides mentorship and career development opportunities for students seeking diverse experience in dogs and cats, with stipends available to offset travel and lodging costs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
- Must be in their clinical years
- Must be on official externship blocks for school credit
