Job Summary
Conduct hands-on patient care in general practice, emergency, and specialty settings including surgical cases, dental procedures, and routine medical appointments. Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving while being supervised by an experienced veterinarian to verify exam findings before proceeding. Engage in diverse clinical work covering dogs, cats, and exotics, with opportunities in ultrasound, acupuncture, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. This externship is designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
Required Qualifications
- Current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- 3rd or 4th year veterinary medical student
- Student in clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
