Job Summary
Participate actively in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff. Discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian to confirm exam findings and verify your plans before proceeding as part of a collaborative team. This hands-on externship provides clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools with diverse experience in soft tissue surgery, advanced diagnostics, internal medicine, pain management, and dentistry across Orange Veterinary Hospital's AAHA-accredited general practice. Students receive mentorship, professional development, and access to stipends to offset travel and lodging costs, offering a transformative opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.
Required Qualifications
- Current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- 3rd or 4th year veterinary medical student
- Student in clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
