Job Summary
Participate actively in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian. Engage in case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on patient care across general practice, emergency, and specialty settings. Confirm exam findings with your supervising veterinarian before proceeding with cases as part of the team. This externship provides clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools with diverse experience in treating dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, birds, and pigs at Gailor Animal Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Required Qualifications
- Current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- Clinical-year status (3rd or 4th year)
- Official externship blocks for school credit
