Job Summary
Manage a varied referral caseload across soft tissue, neurology, and orthopaedic surgery, delivering advanced surgical procedures and clinical advice to referring practices. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support complex patient care, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the growth of the surgical service. Work a 4-day week with 10-hour shifts (8am–6pm) and participate in a shared on-call rota structured as 1 in 3 weekends, with minimal evening on-call duties. Join a specialist-led hospital equipped with CT, MRI, and endoscopy suites, supported by a dedicated team of clinicians and nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Veterinary degree with RCVS registration
- Residency-trained, board-certified (ECVS/ACVS), board-eligible status, or a Certificate with significant referral-level experience
- Advanced clinical experience in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, neurology, or a combination of these disciplines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, referring vets, and multidisciplinary teams
- A collaborative, supportive, and team-focused approach
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
- A 4-day working week (10-hour shifts, 8am–6pm)
- Participation in a shared on-call rota currently structured as 1 in 3 weekends
- Evening on-call is minimal and primarily involves providing telephone support to the dedicated out-of-hours team for any inpatient queries, rather than routine on-site attendance
