Job Summary
Greet and check in clients, verify and update medical records, and confirm appointment details using practice management software. Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system for inquiries regarding scheduling, prescription refills, and vaccination records. Perform client check-outs by processing payments, posting charges, and scheduling follow-up appointments. Communicate medical information and care instructions accurately, including during sensitive situations like euthanasia scheduling. Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure timely data entry in the veterinary practice information management system. Coordinate with veterinarians and support staff to relay communications and maintain efficient patient flow. Keep the reception area and waiting room clean and organized. Full-time role with Monday-Friday 7:30AM-8AM and rotating Saturdays; salary $18.00-$20.00.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a veterinary receptionist
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology
- Proficiency in appointment scheduling
- Proficiency in multi-line phone management
- Proficiency in medical records management
- Proficiency in payment processing
- Proven customer service skills
- Ability to manage high-volume client relations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening
- Conflict resolution
- Comfortable handling animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Comfortable handling fearful or reactive patients
