Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant

Job Summary
Greet and check in clients, verify medical records, and confirm appointments using practice management software. Answer multi-line telephone inquiries regarding scheduling, prescriptions, and vaccination records while processing payments and explaining invoices. Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgeries by restraining animals safely, preparing sterile rooms, collecting samples, and administering medications under supervision. Communicate diagnoses and care instructions compassionately, including end-of-life discussions, while maintaining accurate electronic medical records. Clean reception areas, exam rooms, and kennels to ensure a positive client experience. Work Monday through Friday 8AM-6PM with every other Saturday shift, supported by medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a veterinary setting, in a receptionist and/or assistant capacity
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, vaccination protocols, and basic diagnostic procedures
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment
- Proficiency in appointment scheduling, multi-line phone management, medical records management, and payment processing
- Physical ability to handle and restrain animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments safely and compassionately
- Proven customer service skills; ability to manage high-volume client relations with composure and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution
- Ability to move between front-desk and clinical duties throughout the shift as patient flow require

- Experience with veterinary practice management software; Cornerstone, Avimark, ImproMed, eVetPractice, or ezyVet
