Job Summary
Being a Nursing Manager at VEG means building a culture where people are empowered, connected, and proud of the work they do within an emergency veterinary nursing team. You’ll lead day-to-day nursing operations, oversee scheduling, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, and ensure licensure and education programs are upheld. You’ll partner with hospital leadership to align on goals and hospital flow, use doctor feedback to guide team development, and champion a culture of learning through in-house training, mentorship, and development pathways. You’ll drive 1:1 check-ins and student mentorship to fuel long-term career growth while upholding medical excellence and VEG values such as openness, togetherness, and heroic helping. This role requires credentialed veterinary nursing experience, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced, noisy hospital environment. The position is based in Annapolis, MD, with compensation and benefits that support growth and learning for VEGgies.
Required Qualifications
- Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required
- A.S. or B.S. from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is strongly preferred
- 5+ years in a clinical veterinary nursing role, emergency-specific experience preferred; 2+ years of leadership experience
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
