Job Summary

Provide medical care, record keeping, and anesthesia administration for adult dogs, puppies, and breeders on campus under the direction of Campus Veterinarians. Handle canine medical emergencies, monitor recovery for dogs on medical hold, and perform scheduled medical care while maintaining all medical records. Assist with surgical preparation, inventory pharmaceuticals, and operate laboratory equipment. Transport dogs for specialist evaluation when needed and offer exceptional client service to graduates, puppy raisers, and breeder hosts. Mentor interns and volunteers, maintain campus safety standards, and support resource development activities. Requires a valid driver's license, computer literacy, and ability to lift 70-80 lbs.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform canine health care
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver's license
  • Good driving history
  • Ability to effectively communicate with health care professionals and the general public
  • Ability to remain on feet for large periods of time
  • Ability to lift 70-80 lbs with a coworker

  • Serves as mentor and teacher to team members, interns, volunteers, and graduates
  • Assists in the basic veterinary education of students, puppy raisers, graduates, volunteers, fellow employees and interns
  • Provide exceptional client service to all visiting Graduates, Puppy Raisers, Breeder Hosts, and other guests
  • Maintain a professional image while communicating effectively with other veterinary establishments, puppy raisers, students, graduates or breeder hosts
  • Ability to handle canine medical emergency situations
  • Provides on-call medical services
  • Monitor and respond to incoming medical incident reports
  • Keep abreast of dogs on medical hold and monitors recovery
  • Maintenance of all medical records for all responsible dogs
  • Assistance with communications, record keeping and medical treatment of graduate dogs, puppies in raiser homes, and breeders in host homes
  • Transport of animals on an as needed basis for more involved medical care or evaluation by specialists
  • All employees are responsible for keeping the grounds of Southeastern Guide Dogs safe and clean
  • Reporting or fixing safety hazards
  • Picking up trash
  • Assisting our guests and volunteers
