Veterinary Medical Oncology Assistant

Job Summary
Monitor oncology patients during chemotherapy, administer pain management, and oversee care under general anesthesia. Assist with advanced diagnostic procedures including fine needle aspirations, biopsies, cytology, and radiology. Administer medications via IV, IM, or SQ routes while calculating dosages safely. Educate pet parents on post-treatment care and guide them through treatment options. Maintain accurate electronic medical records and collaborate with board-certified oncologists to update treatment plans. Requires 2–3 years of veterinary assistant experience with oncology or internal medicine exposure. Required Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years experience as a veterinary assistant
- Advanced venipuncture and IV catheter placement experience
- Anesthesia and sedation monitoring
- Medication calculations and administration (IV, IM, SQ, oral)
- Safe handling and restraint of dogs and cats, including fractious patients
- Competence with electronic medical record keeping (Instinct)
- Excellent communication skills with clients, team members, and veterinarians
- Calm, organized, and proactive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Dependable with excellent-follow through on cases, attention to detail
