Job Summary
The surgery veterinary assistant supports the veterinary team by providing nursing care and assisting surgeons and technicians in the operating room. Responsibilities include preparing and setting up for procedures, circulating and assisting during surgeries, cleaning and disinfecting surgical suites, assisting with radiographs, blood draws, catheter placement, anesthesia induction and recovery, preparing anesthesia machines, sterilizing instruments, inventory management, assisting with patient admissions/discharges, and client communication for scheduling and check-ins. The role emphasizes empathetic, high-quality patient care, strong communication, organization, and the ability to collaborate in a team-focused veterinary environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as Veterinary Assistant (preferred)
- AVA Certification (preferred)
- ability to assist with surgical duties and anesthesia as described
