Veterinary Assistant Surgery

As a Veterinary Assistant in the Surgery Department at BluePearl Golden Valley, you will assist veterinarians with crafting and reviewing surgical plans and estimates, perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work), prepare patients for surgery, assist with surgeries, discharge patients, and handle client communications. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training. Schedule: 4/10-hour shifts, with on-call rotation. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $26.00 per hour, with competitive shift differentials for eligible nights and weekends; on-call pay includes double time and a call-in fee. Responsibilities include advancing veterinary skills with on-the-job training, nursing care according to hospital standards, reporting patient status during rounds, administering medications, phlebotomy and bloodwork, physical exams, anesthesia/monitoring support for ASA I or II patients, and assisting with surgeries (e.g., GDV, FHO, TPLO, total hip replacements). The role also involves cleaning and organizing the surgical suites and packroom.
