Job Summary
Demonstrate proficiency in surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, and venipuncture while maintaining a sterile environment. Contribute to hospital efficiency by managing supplies, tracking inventory, and performing select reception duties including scheduling and intake. Maintain accurate medical charting and educate clients on wellness plans and pet care. Obtain patient histories and assist with common procedures like medication administration and wound care. Resolve customer complaints and adapt to individual client needs while adhering to OSHA standards. Work independently in a fast-paced onsite hospital environment, managing constant interruptions and performing other assigned duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry
- Completion of an NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read information
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb
- Ability to perform other job duties as assigned
