Job Summary
Veterinary Assistant at Petco Vetco Total Care hospital: provide excellent medical care to hospital patients and outstanding customer service to pet owners. Greet clients, record vital signs and patient histories in EMR, assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision, perform patient restraint, collect lab samples, dispense medications, and help maintain medical records. Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and ensure smooth hospital operations. Assist in anesthesia and anesthesia recovery, administer injectable and oral medications, and monitor patients. Support training of new staff, maintain a clean hospital environment, and perform additional duties as needed. Requires strong written and verbal communication, compassion, teamwork, and adaptability; prior veterinary practice or animal care experience preferred (minimum 1 year). Pay ranges: $17.00 - $27.50 hourly, with actual rates based on location and experience.
